Important Reminder: Prohibited / Restricted Products

We would like to remind you that under the terms of your Global Sources Exhibitions contract, you are solely responsible for checking and verifying that each and every product that you exhibit in your exhibiting space complies with the laws of Hong Kong SAR.

Certain products may be prohibited, restricted or regulated under the laws of Hong Kong SAR.

For example, under the Firearms and Ammunition Ordinance (Chapter 238), dealing in or possessing arms or ammunition (including explosives, stun guns, pepper sprays and other weapons), without an appropriate license, is a criminal offense, which could render an offender liable upon conviction to a fine and/or imprisonment. Possession of knives in a public place can also be an offense in certain circumstances. In order to import any weapons (or components) into Hong Kong, it is necessary to apply for a license in advance.

In addition, according to the Smoking (Public Health) (Amendment) Ordinance 2021 of Hong Kong, from 30 April 2022, no person may import, promote, manufacture, sell, or possess for commercial purposes “Alternative Smoking Products”, including electronic smoking products (“electronic vaporizers”, “vaporizers”) i.e. a device that is capable of generating an aerosol, other than by means of direct lighting, from any substances and being used for imitating conventional smoking, its component or accessory, heated tobacco products and herbal cigarettes. Anyone who carries out any of the above acts in relation to an alternative smoking product commits an offence, which could render an offender liable upon conviction to a fine and/or imprisonment. The Smoking (Public Health) Ordinance (Cap. 371) prohibits the exhibition of smoking or tobacco advertisement in printed publications, in public places or on the Internet. Any smoking or tobacco advertisement relates to smoking in terms which are calculated, expressly or impliedly, to promote or to encourage the use of smoking products or alternative smoking products is prohibited.

We strongly advise you not to bring any such products or other prohibited articles into Hong Kong SAR. Any failure to abide by the laws of Hong Kong SAR could result in possible arrest and criminal conviction.
